10 Cloverfield Lane

“10 Cloverfield Lane,” even with its recent trailer release, is still something of a mystery.

Up until its trailer reveal, “10 Cloverfield Lane” went under different titles, and, overall, was just kept under very quiet conditions.

“Cloverfield” is a 2008 found-footage monster film (which I, for one, thoroughly enjoyed); “10 Cloverfield Lane” is claimed to be a pseudo-sequel of the former. Ever since the 2008 release, fans have been clamoring for a sequel, and some had lost hope due to it being years after the original release.

Doubt no longer.

The trailer opens with some upbeat, classic music, and almost seems to be a fun ride, though, when the roof starts shaking, some intrigue settles in. As the music gets progressively creepier and more eerie, so does what’s happening, and some violent acts start happening to these previously happy people.

I’ll admit: I am very, very excited for this film. I’m a big fan of the original movie, and, while, yes, it does have its faults, it was just such a fresh combination of what could be considered stale nowadays (though not at the time it was released, I believe).

This is mainly due to just how genius the marketing strategy is. The fact that the producer, J.J. Abrams (also producer of the 2008 film), has gone through the lengths to keep this movie such a mystery is astounding.

There’s not much else to say about “10 Cloverfield Lane,” considering that the only thing out right now is one single trailer.

But, I definitely know I’m excited for it.
